Cool stuff!
I remember I tried to learn anatomy for so long thinking it was the key to everything drawing .. I kind of given up on it now and I'm tempted to scan in my very old Terry Gilliam art tutorial book (Animations of Mortality) that changed my thinking: it has useful advice such as 'if you put wheels on a character you don't have to animate legs' or you can just pretend people are walking in high grass

Aw, I was actually thinking about anatomy today! I'll definitely be interested to see your process!
saaaame, anatomy is not a strong suit of mine and i tend to avoid drawing bodies and complex poses because of it. this will definitely be helpful
This is great, `karosh` ! Like your method of drawing hands, I have heard time and time again to simplify into basic shapes, but I almost never commit to that practice for no apparent reason. I need to really drill down and fill a few sketchbooks of just that. Some of my favourite sketchbooks I’ve flipped through were actually other artists practice/study sketches, something inspiring about pages of well organized anatomy sketches.
`Painovoima` Thank you!!
well yes i think this is one of many problems in art books and so on when you are fresh or even when you are already experienced you look something up to study and see all of these really nice clean and neat sketches and drawings and you feel like that's how it's supposed to be, and most of the youtube art tutorials show perfectly anatomically correct shapes to make simple sketches, in my opinion a bad practice because like i said with time that comes natural, that only makes it seem like you not doing it right or that you tend to be messy and unorganized.
but the reality is, it's just presentation.
none of us tend to draw a clean piece right off the bat, and that's important to know.
in my personal opinion having a messy and or very basic sketch opens a lot of space for creativity, because you can always work around it.
You are absolutely right, `karosh` , I need to hear that more often and bear that in mind. I just need to get messy and put stuff down like you said. Especially since ideas come to me fairly quickly lately, but I spend too much time overthinking the drawing, and end up getting nothing drawn or spend 1-5 hours drawing something detailed that I could have communicated far more effectively within a fraction of the strokes of my pen and time spent.
