I wish this site was more active...

It's been hard trying to find a fun art site since Drawception's loading times became so horrendously slow for me to post and interact there.. This site is a really great alternative but recently it just seems really inactive...

Yeah, the lack of activity is the only issue i have with pchutney. The site was never particularly fast (it's normal for strips to take weeks, if not months to complete; some unfinished comics are well over a year old at this point), but it seems to have slowed down even more recently. [Which is understandable, i'm not blaming people for having real life responsibilities and arguably better things to do than wasting their time here lol] There's been a slow and steady influx of new users, but it seems like it just isn't enough to offset the number of old users who either left this site completely or are barely active these days. Panelchutney relies exclusively on word of mouth for advertising, so it's somewhat difficult to attract new blood. We can only hope that the people who are fed up with the current state of Drawception/Doodle or Die/etc. will somehow discover this place and stay here, at least for a while. I like pchutney a lot and I really want it to succeed. If there is anything the Internet lacks these days, it's fun, niche websites like this one. The site is still relatively young, and the owner hasn't COMPLETELY abandoned us yet, so I do believe there is still potential for growth here (nothing too crazy, i feel like just a couple more drawings per day on average would go a long way and liven this place up). Especially if you consider that a lot of similar websites are either dead or have been on life support for years. There really aren't that many alternatives left, at least from what I've seen.

One one hand I want to be more active, but on the other I'm so art blocked lately, I can't even bother to pick up my tablet's pen.. (I blame art fight, it worn me out, lol) I'll get my energy back eventually.

Thanks to those of you regularly active members though for all your contributions and time on here, I too want to see this place grow, and although I want to be more active myself on here, daily if possible, my reason for lurking mainly this past year has been poor time management; specifically in dedicating time to daily drawing πŸ˜… I especially want to continue learning and improving my drawing skills and I can’t imagine a better way to do so collaboratively than on here πŸ˜πŸ‘

I also want there to be more activity, and I know that it's not going to just happen overnight. That is why I'm going to try to submit more. A community is a group effort,so I'll do my part to help out.

I'll throw a couple thoughts down here, because why not ^^ Firstly, I'm so sorry you're having trouble finding ways to engage The Metal Chair that's unfortunate to hear. Have you looked through the older comics? I think there's a lot of good inspiration there. I don't know what everyone's reasons for low amounts of activity on the site are, but I will share mine just to shed a little light on the situation ^^ For me, the biggest reason I loved Panel Jam and other sites like that wasn't doe to tools, skill or anything else. My primary draw... Ehehe yes I mean draw! But primarily what has drawn me to sites like this is the collaborative aspect in drawing and creating comics! I love creating WITH others! I love making friends and showing interactions and weaving stories and other nonsense like that! Hehe X3 But, and this really isn't a dig at anyone, I feel like there isn't any of that collaborative aspect on this site! Or exceedingly little! And I couldn't tell you whether it's old artists leaving, new ones coming in or any of it ^^ But the climate of the site HAS changed! So instead of a bunch of story-telling comics with fun characters and interesting plots, or even just some good gags, I mostly feel like I'm looking at an art social media when I look at Panel Chutney these days! With art challenges, and people sharing art they made and things like that. And I don't really think that has to be a bad thing! ^^ If people are enjoying the site, I think it's going great! But for me, who is on here to create collaborative works with other artists, this site hasn't been scratching that itch! So I don't really doe much here anymore because the stuff I loved to doe isn't exactly very prevalent here! And yes, you may be asking "Well Miss complainey deer, why don't you create more of the stuff you want to see here then?" My answer to that... Well I'll put it in another message here so I don't run out of space XP

As to my lack of participation, well things happen and I get busy! X3 But more than that, I don't actually have really any deersire to use this site like a social media! I don't really want others to admire my work! I want to engage in creativity with others! For me, that is the whole point of the site! ^^ And I have tried to make comics that can engage with other users to little success! Which is fine, but I can't really doe much about the state of the site! The climate currently seems very geared towards showing off art and creating art challenges! Like 'draw this in your style' or other such things. And again, that's okiiie! ^^ But for me, the general allure of drawing art of the site has deercreased! So I can pop in and maybe draw something every so often, but what I love about drawing with others isn't really on display here in recent months! Annnnnyhow XP Sorry for the rant, thanks for letting me take your time! I hope you all keep enjoying creating! If someone wants to do a fun little collaborative comic together, I'm totally down for it! But the key word is something 'collaborative' that is what I enjoy! Really, I'm happy to draw our ocs talking or messing around together! That's great! Feel free to pass me stuff like that, or a story comic, or a little gag! I love that! But in short, this is personally why I have dropped off in a big way! I figured I would let everyone know my thoughts in case anyone else feels the same! X3 But if not, there's no worries! But if you feel like that, feel free to throw me a bone! Literally if you like! Ehehehe! Annnnyhow! There you have it! ^^ Have a lovely day!

If anyone would like to know my reason for being inactive, I mostly just feel lacking in ideas/ not very creative.

I've been on hiatus because I'm physically recovering from an injury and I couldn't really draw or use my computer comfortably since a few months ago. I still can't say I'm truly back yet. I'll need to wait and heal a bit more before I'll be free to do resume and draw as I please (drawing for multiple hours is very exhausting and physically demanding for me). No worries, I'm recovering steadily and I'm not in any real danger!!β™₯ ^^ I do want to try to partake in Inktober a bit, since I need to get used to drawing again!! I can't say I'll draw every singe day, but I'll do my best!β™₯ I haven't drawn for multiple months and I forgot how O.o!!! Feel free to participate in Inktober as well with me if you feel like it!β™₯ ^;^

I really wish he had a Bluesky or instagram account to obtain more attention. Also is anybody gonna contact Peyo in case the domain expires in may 2025. Maybe he can some of our friends on the outside along to join in.

`PotassiumParamedic` sorry for not being active (and also for this sudden driveby) I still occassionally check on the site if it's still there (unlike some people πŸ˜’) hosting (and domain) is good until 2025 07 and because we are on cheap hungarian servers we got enough dough to last for a while (heck just the other day I spent 100 years worth of hosting on getting a roof fixed 😐) and feel free to email or discord me with any problems πŸ‘ (expect this site not being active one that is - as I have absolutely no clue what to do about it πŸ€”) I'm still around just don't feel like drawing anymore πŸ˜• (life problems and let's leave it at that)

`Peyo` I think a PanelChutney Instagram could be a good idea, you could just post a few strips on there, advertise the site, say what it’s about and such. If you’re too busy for that, you could have someone else run it

`Crazyhead` I mean that's certainly not a bad idea, however, Peyo has a bit on his plate (As he did say) so I'm not sure right now would be the best time for him to take on an advertising campaign. We actually have a decent enough player base right now (it feels like to me. Maybe on the smaller side, but good enough) so I think that attracting more people should come secondarily to attracting the RIGHT sort of people. (I think we can all agree attracting more trolls or something, even if they're easy to limit, is not what anyone really wants) Anyhow, just some thoughts! ^^ If you want to share the site with your friends I think that's a great idea! I mean, I suspect a grass-roots advertising effort will beat out a singular larger effort in the long run anyways.

`Scones and Cones` I don’t really have any friends (in real life or online), but yeah, you might be right. Telling friends about this site might be the best idea then, though I can’t really do that myself.

`Crazyhead` if anyone wants to make one (or on some other social site) you have my permission πŸ‘ (as far as I'm concerned you don't need my permission - just making it clear that you are welcome to do as you please πŸ€—) and `Scones and Cones` brings up a good point - going too big with advertising the site might not attract the right crowd - it's sort of a gambit πŸ€”

Sorry to hear about the life problems stealing your will to draw `Peyo`. 100% understand that feeling. Been fighting through that on and off myself. But I'm more active on this site than any other art site so hope that restores some of your confidence!

Well said, and good point `Scones and Cones` 😊 Ah man, heartbreaking to hear you don’t want to draw anymore, you are too talented, my friend. But a drive-by Peyo is always refreshing and welcome, hope all you got going on improves soon enough, `Peyo` 🫑 And may your new 100 Hosting Year roof shelter you from any storm for centuries.
