`Pax`

I tried dissenter (which is pretty much just a branch of an older Chrome)
and it also works correctly.. sometime somehow an update broke something .. ? 🤔
.. seems the best we can do is write a complain to google 😒
2022-11-17 03:50:14
anyway.. so that is the official Chutney recommendation: use Firefox for smudging
2022-11-17 03:49:10
I have no idea what is going on with the math .. and the kicker is that it's different on each browser:
the darkening effect doesn't happen in Firefox 😄
(it still doesn't smudge the alpha tough .. but nevermind)
I guess this is one of those cases where we would have to use our own pixel manipulation code (and then it would be correct but very very slow)
2022-11-17 03:45:29
in the meantime I checked some more examples and all suffer from the darkening - i guess it's a javascript quirk
so far one work around I found is to use a lighten composite on it -- but then you cannot smudge black at all
also I have no idea what to do about the alpha not smudging
2022-11-17 03:39:37
I experimented around and the same darkening happens on the example I followed .. we are on our own 😅
..
maybe we hit a javascript limit? 🤔
2022-11-17 03:17:02
no it's not intended
something to do with the alpha maybe? I'm not sure what is causing it yet
2022-11-17 03:06:14
ok .. it should be much closer to the real deal now
(still far from perfect)
what do you think?
2022-11-17 02:38:51
- color picker hotkey fix
- smudge improvement
###### revision 1291
2022-11-16 21:50:40
well that is the thing.. it's broken and unfinished and will be updated later .. but it's smudges things in its own way .. so it was added
2022-11-16 17:48:19
ok I also added the smudge tool .. but I regret to inform you that it's also a dollar store version of the real thing
it smudges alright just not how you expect
(I'll try to upgrade it in the future)
2022-11-16 17:46:44
- use color picker color to draw if open
- added experimental smudge tool
feature requested by `KMP`
###### revision 1284
2022-11-16 09:25:28
hmm.. how about as long as it's open you draw with the color you selected..
and confirm would replace it in the palette.. ? 🤔
2022-11-16 08:34:07
- soft brush added to mobile tools
- fix for soft brush line
- fix for feed and group strip layout
###### revision 1280
2022-11-15 23:57:58
it only works this way because it's copying PJ-s selector
hmm.. thing is I can see why auto-update would be convenient (quick change) and inconvenient (current one you can compare to the previous color) .. so I can't decide what to do..
`KMP` what do you think?
2022-11-15 22:27:14
I'm afraid a triangular color picker is waaay beyond my abilities right now 😨
(among many other things)
anyway for now I updated the current one so it can stay open while you draw
2022-11-15 22:24:39
- fix for color selector scale
- allow drawing with color selector open
feature requested by `KMP`
###### revision 1276
2022-11-15 20:12:17
what I mean by cheap is that it's not a proper soft brush
there are some cheating and shenanigans to make it fast and it only somewhat works like a soft brush ..
dollar store soft brush? 🤔
I guess it's fitting it's almost new year.. (i was too lazy to plug in the tablet and its some bad mouse drawing .. not sure what I was doing)
2022-11-15 19:44:59
good news is I found a good example on how to make a smudge tool in javascript - previously I thought it might not be possible at all but turns out it's simpler than it looks - so that will come sometime
I experimented with a blur tool before but bluring in general is really really slow (so far the whole image blur under FX is the best we can do) so I'll try to get the smudge work first and see how it goes
making the color mixer stay on screen is easy enough.. so far I had the most problem scaling and placing its window
anyway I guess that is something I should tackle next
2022-11-15 11:09:42
i've been trying to make a softbrush for a while
and it seems to be the most difficult feature to add
(there is no built in javascript canvas function for it etc)
but I decided that I cannot live without it
so I made a much cheaper - but good enough - version
2022-11-15 11:07:28
- new soft-ish brush
- bugfix for crayon brush (for white edges)
- some drawing tool optimisations
###### revision 1274

the creature is a full member now.. welcome!
(hmm a lot of new users lately 🤔)
2022-11-14 22:09:13

2022-11-14 20:30:10
- each brush should now store the last size and alpha set
feature requested by `TeeEffDee`
###### revision 1269
2022-11-14 20:29:08
ok now it should remember the brush size you set for each tool
(tool sets are put on the todo list for now)
2022-11-14 02:01:11
come to think of it there was not much complaining about it recently..
is anyone still drawing on phone? 🤔
