I investigated the problem: the probable cause is that nooz has two users with very similar usernames* (he lost the password for the old one according to his description at least [/user/39](/user/39) ) and this confuses my mention system which goes for the oldest username it can find with a similar name (that's my theory anyhow) so far my proposed solutions are: - I change it so default mentions are generated with user id instead of name (when you click on someones name in the comments) so the mention system doesn't get confused - I help `nooz` recover his old account so he gets these mentions too - I just change the name on his old account so the mention system doesn't get confused (there is probably a better way -- fixing the mention system somehow comes to mind -- but I still have trouble thinking straight so I'm not sure how ) edit: *and by username i mean the displayed name (true usernames are not public and only for login)

`KMP` quick survey for new users(actually a question for all new users): how confusing you find the current limited user system? (you are now an unlimited user of course: but did you notice it when registered etc.? )

Just a reminder to myself - bugs I need to still fix: - new topic page has not updated the layout colors - there seem to be performance problems on the spray and crayon tools (but only on chrome?) - userpage outlines also affect the mention number outline (feel free to add any bugs that you know of and is not on this list) done: - same goes for the edit comment page- mentions broken if ! or ? added after the name - on firefox the claim hash gets corrupted somehow (needs a lighter claim check) - mentions -- check for an exact match for the name first - mentions - for emoji usernames its broken again

ok the merge button turned out to be just a one-afternoon hack-job and is added now one thing to remember is that it's affected by the alpha slider (update: nevermind) I was not sure if it's useful or confusing - for now just be aware of this fact Edit: upon further thought I realised it is confusing - and what am I even doing - apparently I'm still a bit dizzy from my illness

right now the merge feature is kinda there but hidden: under FX you can copy the layer and then use the trash button to erase to original but I guess now we have enough room for a dedicated button for this so that should be my next priority

ok just a checklist: so far the extra layer is in im not sure about the other two yet .. so far it seems the best we could do is rectangular selection only? (and that still brings the problem that you might want one or multiple layers selected etc)

I guess an extra layer should be possible - that could be added soon the mask part is i'm not sure of - maybe a layer could be used as the mask? this will need some research selection will definitely take a long-long time to add
