I think those are really good additions! Thanks for not setting up a situation where users might be at the mercy of vandals with no recourse.

Electra, maybe you should give us a clue! Or tell us what tool you made this with in which room!

`Peyo` 60 Million Dollar Man! Wait, wasn't Stephen Chown also big in the Unix community? Great picture! When it appeared in Hungary did they rename or just call it by its original title? (Well original English title)

Try not to let it worry you, I've known several people who contracted COVID and while they had some sick days, they came through it without problems. Be sure to stay hydrated and don't exhaust yourself!

`Painovoima` YEP I recognized Kung Fu Hustle instantly, and great picture, you really got the Pig Sty Alley setting down wonderfully in addition to the character! That movie was super funny and also had so many heavy hitter actors in it from Hong Kong cinema! A standout part for me was when the land lady goes "Isn't that right Rabbit Tooth Jane???" and it does a zoom in on her rabbit tooths. Thanks for contributing it's great and thanks for the compliment! Please submit all you want I made it 99 panels so everyone can add as many as they like, and also unlimited panels in a row are allowed.

`Peyo` Thanks for the answer, that's what I needed to know!

`Peyo` Here's a question: I just posted a strip which is made for people to celebrate movie scenes, creations or characters, and while I didn't start it with something NSFW I do invite others to add NSFW material if they want as I don't want people to be limited, and to feel free to represent adult situations. What would site policy be on this? Setting a strip NSFW seems to hide it from view to such an extent that it makes it worthwhile to avoid doing so. How should this be approached? Is there any chance of having the view of NSFW submissions be shifted to something more visible, such as allowing a thumbnail (which would need to be SFW of course) that also bears a NSFW mark so that everything that allows NSFW isn't buried in the basement? I don't think NSFW should be viewed as lascivious necessarily, as there's plenty of stuff that would technically not be suitable for "work" but isn't pornographic. A view on some site standards would be welcome.

`Peyo` I like the fact you allowed people to set a timer on passing but the upper limit seems a little extreme as something under the control of third parties. Please consider perhaps adding an option for the creator of a strip to limit pass times, so that if someone doesn't want a strip tied up for days at a time due to a pass they can set the maximum pass time to something lower than 72 hours. Another good idea might be setting a rule for how many consecutive passes someone who isn't the creator can do. Lowering the pass time and adding an option to limit passes would allow a strip's creator to effectively combat any attempts to tie up a strip.

`Peyo` Excellent, I did not think of that! Great tip! And yes I think when referring to other work a dark overlay is only an impediment.

`Peyo` This isn't really a hyper complaint but seems solvable, I'll tell you my actual use story and you can use your own judgement. I was editing my panel on the Totem game and was trying to match a gray color to Carrot's panel above mine. I thought to myself "It would be nice if we could color pick from the work of other people working on the same strip, but no problem, I can eyeball it." I go to the color editor and... ARGH it puts a dark overlay on top of the work of the other participants, meaning now I can't even eyeball it properly while using the color mixer. Eventually I just got the hex code, but is there any plan to make colors pickable from other participants panels, and failing that, could the dark overlay not obscure their work? That sort of thing can stand directly in the way of trying to match panels to other panels, even in mood or theme if not directly copying colors, since all other panels are cast in overlay twilight.

`battery` I just chose gray because it's a neutral color and I had no idea who might add next, so wanted to keep it as unobtrusive as possible.

I wanted to do some animation with a background from another strip, but I was under the impression only the first panel in a strip could be used as a background. But then I saw you doing the background dump strip and went "Wait, I can use any panel from a strip as a background?" So then I was like "So which instructions have been deprecated and what's the procedure now?"

`Peyo` If you already had plans for it nevermind me, but if you do want some docs written I'd be happy to help! Good documentation is getting rare in general.

`Peyo` I am loving the site of course but I am actually myself starting to run into confusion about how things work! I'm not just complaining, however, instead if you'd be willing to provide me with a list of functions or instructions, I'd be happy to write them up into a plain language help manual for users to refer to (Including myself). If you already have this covered and plan to write a help document, great but if you weren't, I'd be happy to. Maybe we could link it on the site as instructions.
This was brought on by me planning a submission then coming to a stop because I couldn't remember in what way things were done.

`Peyo` Possible bug, when I check the user list, and I press the 1 at the bottom to see the next page, it takes me to the front page.

I'd say anything where the originator of the project can leave information or instructions would be great, wherever it shows up. That is one shortfall, is that it's really hard to give any kind of info where people will see it for sure. Having it appear in the drawing tool would be pretty amazing I think!

Actually pchutney is growing on me, because it's so easy to just type pc and have it auto-complete! I even started saying it like "puh-chutney." Also it was a great move because one user I was trying to get to join literally couldn't without SSL so it's great to have it.
It sounds like a city in New York or Pennsylvania, like "Please send submissions to our home office in Puhchutney, NY"

I'm not sure where to put this since I don't want to just start a new thread for it, so I'll put it here. This is another bonus idea thing I had that should be easy to put in if you like it, and would be handy. But an optional "Information" text box at the top of strips might be useful where people starting a strip can give advanced instructions or notes on the strip, or explain the idea or background info for it. I'd say having it be toggle-able on and off would be good and it should probably stay editable. This would be something of fairly uncommon but profound usefulness.

Paino, you definitely understand the nature of brainstorming! It's a little understood practice.

Okay idea, Wild Will is actually the reincarnation of William Wallace and since William Wallace and other warriors used a blue dye on their faces which was called woad he's Wild Will the Woad Warrior. Also Mel Gibson played William Wallace in a movie, and was also Mad Max.

Peyo, just remember you need to get a domain name you personally really like! That's the most important thing, all the other aspects of it are secondary. You should choose something you like to have representing you and your work you have done to make this site a reality.

Hooty.hu is my choice too it's not that the others are bad it's just they aren't as easy to reduce to an elemental concept.
2022-07-04 15:44:34
Dang it, wu.hu would have been great because you could have said the wu-hu lab was the source of the Chutney 19 outbreak because people were drawing bats! hooty.hu is my favorite option just for ease of remembering, and also you can draw an owl lady with big hooty hooters! hu boy

I'm probably not going to be a great deal of help on this because outside of keeping the domain short, easy to remember and easy to use in tribute art, I don't have a lot of inspiration with regard to the domain name itself. My second place choice would be like ac.hu because being a sneeze sound, it's easy to remember, and it's simple to use in tribute art since any time a character is drawn sneezing (which can range from as harmless and cute to as gross and graphic as one wants so it keeps it open to all ends of the artistic spectrum) it can become a tribute by having their caption for the sneeze be ac.hu! Also it leads to some neat tagline ideas likening artistic expression to an illness, or an allergy, or to something infectious, or something that gets up one's nose in general, forcing an expulsion of creative output.
So my main vote would be for ac.hu but I am not against any domain.
