`Timebroken` Please help me test this idea! I wanted to see if secret strips could be used as private messages to other users so I am making this one and passing it to you. If it works right nobody but us and anyone we pass it to should be able to see the strip or the comments! I just drew a doodle for a panel but drawing isn't necessary if you don't want to (but of course if you do please do!) but I wanted to see if this could be used to deliver private messages.

`PotassiumParamedic` I'm going to release the strip again, tho I appreciate the pass! I have a pic I'm working on when I can that I'll upload soon so want to let others have access to the strip.

`PotassiumParamedic` I'll add one as an upload soon so I unpassed so others can submit in the meanwhile! (No need to hold it since I'll upload)

`Peyo` Thank you I know he will appreciate that and won't abuse it!

`Peyo` Also please set jblask `jblask` to be able to upload if it's okay, he really needs it! And thanks!

That is a super great idea! I love that, that way you could 1-click start a strip

`Aluminimalism` Well it did it when I tried to use 12 for you!
2023-10-04 14:00:20
`124` Straaange I didn't know it did that!
2023-10-04 13:51:39
`124` Like this was typed as an @ followed by a 1
2023-10-04 13:51:08
Oddly when I tried to put @ 1 in the message to note you, Peyo, it kept changing it to something like 1 2 4. No idea what's up with that!

Peyo I was trying to keep in mind you weren't fond of the idea of uploads, and I remember `PȂX` weighed in against it, but I haven't heard anyone else express against it. I think it's an interesting topic for discussion! My opinion of it is I don't even care what others do, I just want it as an option for me, and I think a lot of times people don't enable it just because they forget it's something they have to check to enable. That just adds an extra layer of difficulty and makes me think people should have the option to just flip it on for strips they make permanently. I wouldn't ever want anyone to lose the ability to set their strips to site tools only, but at the same time I question how many people would want to do that. The only benefit I can see outside of trying to stop people from uploading outside images (which could be solved with the generous mod tools you have provided) would be if someone was trying to game-ify the use of the site tools, which I wouldn't be into since I primarily want to see the art people make, regardless of how it was made.

Also, another good thing would be to make Uploading available under the disk icon that's used for saving. Right now under FX it's quite hidden as it's not intuitively a special effect of any sort! Having a disk icon that covers uploading and downloading would make a lot of sense.

What would be useful and practical would be if users could set an option on their profile to have uploads be turned on automatically in Chutney strips they create! There may be situations where someone has the sentiment "I really don't want anyone to contribute anything to my strip unless it was made in the site's art app." But that sentiment is probably pretty niche. So for most people, if they had the option to just have uploads switched on, that would be a great thing! They'd be making a strip and flinging the door open to all contributors. And anyone who didn't want people uploading work to their strips could leave the option off. In fact even someone who had uploads turned on by default could switch it off for a given strip! It's a win/win.
As a bonus, this thread can be used in debates to support the existence of the slippery slope phenomenon, tho I myself don't believe in it.

I was just kidding about the cloud, or so I thought!

Some strips don't even need a claim system! For recent strips like the Halloween Costume one or Draw Someone Else's OC where it's just a list of unrelated images, allowing people to submit panels without having to claim the strip would speed things along. Nobody would have to wait! They could submit like pow.

Quite a big improvement, thank you for addressing the issue! It will make life a lot easier for those who do not choose colors by numeric value alone.

I'm glad others noticed this too! The unexpected switching to other shades (I don't do anything by referring to numbers so that would be an alien operation method... I'd have to actually start associating specific colors with number codes. I know the Old Masters and their more modern incarnation Norman Rockwell were big on that but I'm not there yet) really plays havoc with trying to paint intuitively. A fix to something calibrated would be great!

I noticed on the Color Picker, for example, if you choose a swatch that's pure white, or create one, then close it and come back to it, the color picker itself is offset from where it should be. I am pretty sure this happens with other shades as well.
Making a pure white swatch to test it is the easiest way to see it in action!

`Peyo` By attack I mean 2 events. First the one where someone was spamming the site using a script, I believe posting in Hindi. I could be wrong about the language. But I was watching it happen in real time talking to Carrot on Discord, and you moved in and put an end to it, and gave a damage report. Oh come on, you were there!
The second would be the massive number of accounts created on the Wiki, which I would certainly count as an attack. I believe you said it was something like 800 accounts.
And yes, I know you don't want to reject anyone but that's exactly why security is so important. I mean this may come as a shock but I have reason to believe Goh and PewPew/Headshot's user is on here, and we all know what a troublemaker that guy is.
2023-06-02 12:16:35
`Peyo` Yeah I don't think you, Sam or Setin are going to do anything, obviously... It's never about the people you know it's about the person you haven't met yet, who steps into a perfect opportunity. The site's already been attacked as you well know, and the attacker is now a member, so it's not the environment to leave any doors open. So yes that does solve the problem! It's just too easy to get verified on here and get full privileges for that to be any sort of a safeguard (has anyone ever been rejected? Not that I know of) so having it be off limits makes sense.
